FAQ

Common questions

What is a Certificate of Conformity (COC)?+

A COC is an official document certifying that your vehicle meets EU type-approval standards. It enables free movement and registration within the EU/EEA. It contains 51+ technical data points.

Why do I need a COC?+

When registering or importing a vehicle in another EU country, the registration authority requires a COC. Registration is not possible in most countries without it.

Who issues a COC?+

Only the vehicle manufacturer can issue it; only the manufacturer holds the required technical data. Coceu sources it from the manufacturer's official channel on your behalf.

Is Coceu an official authority?+

No. Coceu is an independent intermediary, not a government body or vehicle manufacturer. It is a transparent service that sources the document from the manufacturer and forwards it to you.

Are your documents original?+

Yes. The delivered COC is an original manufacturer document with security features such as watermark, stamp, security strip and signature. It is accepted by registration authorities.

How long does a COC take?+

1-15 business days depending on the make. With Digital & Fast, your document usually arrives as a PDF within 1 business day, followed by a paper copy via UPS Express.

How much does it cost?+

A clear price is shown per make and delivery option, with no hidden fees. Once you enter your VIN and choose your make, you see the total incl. VAT.

Can I get a COC for cars imported from outside the EU?+

It is possible for non-EU built vehicles that hold European type approval. We verify availability instantly during the VIN check.
